And we are off

And we are off, Clyde open for fishing.

MidClyde ..

Tam Riley got off to a good start on his return to the river with this fine fish below caught on the fly.
Salmon, around 10lb.
Alan Jack also reported a fine Sea Trout of around 4.5lb but unfortunately the picture that Alan gor was not the best so did not send this in but he did send this pic to me of a SLAB of a MidClyde Brown Trout which came in around 5lb & was caught on one of Alan's own Tay Raider flies.

UCAPA ..

As of yet no reported Salmon coming off the UCAPA stretch of the river but with plenty of anglers out on the 1st day back a few reports of leaping fish came in I am sure it wont be long before the reports of landed fish come in where-as the Brown Trout fishing is another matter.
The river was bathed in very warm sunshine and clear blue skies all day long so the angler's that did venture out for the Troot reported that they did not see many fish coming to the top to take a fly.
The fish that did come off through the day/evening were as bonnie-a-troot's as you will see in Scotland ...

Lamington ..

Lamington angler's dont send me many catches these day's but 1 angler sent in the picture of a fine, marked Brown Trout from Lamington.

Michael Roser's Trout ...
River Avon

Some of our FaceBook member's that fish the River Avon (one of the Clyde tributaries) kindley sent me some pictures of the cracking Brown Trout that they also bumped into on there time fishing on the 1st day out.

Aaron Hamilton's ...

Colin Morton's ...
As far as it comes to myself getting out day after lock-down I spent most of the day fishing from upstream of Hazlebank & down to Mauldslie area before the weather beat me and nothing to report except of a fish I chased in the morning only to jag it after it came up to take my dry fly and never held onto but I did get some scenery pics for you all.

New tippet line ...

I have been struggling over the last few months with the usual brands of tippet. I have been trying Climax 98 over the last couple of months and can say this has been the best tippet I have used. Not strength is excellent and turnover is also excellent.
The 30m spools below I use for the Rainbow Trout fishing & the 9ft tapered leaders I use for the Brown Trout on the rivers
Price wise the 9ft tapered leaders come in around £2.50 for a pack of 2 & the 30m spools come in around £3.99 per spool.

Enjoy your fishing.
